چکیده

non-specific response to tissue damage.1 However, an investigation into the relation between the peak body temperature during the first week and in-hospital complications since the event of MI showed that the incidence of complications of pump failure (grade of class 2 or greater according to Killip’s classification or subset II or greater according to Forrester’s classification) and ventricular aneurysm, as well as the incidence of cardiovascular events such as cardiac death, pump failure, fatal ventricular arrhythmias and cardiac rupture, increased in proportion to the body temperature increase.2 Although the peak creatine kinase (CK) level, an indicator of infarct size, was similar, LV end-diastolic and LV end-systolic volumes measured by left ventriculography before discharge had increased and the LV ejection fraction decreased in proportion to the peak body temperature, demonstrating an association between body temperature increase after MI and LV remodeling.2

Inflammation as a Driver of Adverse Left Ventricular Remodeling After Acute Myocardial Infarction.

Treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has improved significantly in recent years, but many patients have adverse left ventricular (LV) remodeling, a maladaptive change associated with progressive heart failure. Although this change is usually associated with large infarcts, some patients with relatively small infarcts have adverse remodeling, whereas other patients with larger infarcts...

Abrogation of CC chemokine receptor 9 ameliorates ventricular remodeling in mice after myocardial infarction

CC chemokine receptor 9 (CCR9), which is a unique receptor for CC chemokine ligand (CCL25), is mainly expressed on lymphocytes, dendritic cells (DCs) and monocytes/macrophages. CCR9 mediates the chemotaxis of inflammatory cells and participates in the pathological progression of inflammatory diseases. However, the role of CCR9 in the pathological process of myocardial infarction (MI) remains un...

IL-33 attenuates cardiac remodeling following myocardial infarction via inhibition of the p38 MAPK and NF-κB pathways.

The inflammatory response has adverse effects on left ventricular (LV) function and remodeling post-myocardial infarction (MI). Interleukin (IL)-33 is considered to have anti-inflammatory properties. The present study examined whether the suppression of inflammation with IL-33 was able to attenuate LV dysfunction and remodeling post-MI. The MI model was induced and the mice were treated with ei...

Correlations between Serum Inflammation Factors and Left Ventricular Remodeling in Acute ST Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

PURPOSE To investigate the changes and correlations of the serum inflammation factors levels and left ventricular (LV) structure and function in patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). MATERIALS AND METHODS A prospective study was performed on 70 STEMI patients and 70 control subjects. Serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), soluble CD40 ligand (sCD40L), metallop...

Monocytosis and adverse left ventricular remodeling after reperfused myocardial infarction.

Over the last decade there has been growing interest in “bedside” protein and cellular markers of inflammation and adverse outcome after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) (1–16). In this issue of the Journal, Maekawa et al. (17) address the prognostic significance of peripheral monocytosis found at two to three days after reperfused AMI as a cellular marker for clinical outcome and its possible...

Ghrelin inhibits post-infarct myocardial remodeling and improves cardiac function through anti-inflammation effect.

Ghrelin is a novel growth hormone-releasing peptide, which has been shown to exert beneficial cardiac effects on chronic heart failure (CHF) recently. In this study, we attempted to investigate the mechanisms for the effect of ghrelin on ventricular remodeling following acute myocardial infarction (MI). Ligation of a coronary artery was used to create an MI in rats. One week after MI, ghrelin (...
